In 1939, Timmins illustrated the ten-installment serial The Green Angel, which was written by George F. Worts. Harry’s series of illustrations for The Green Angel represent my favorite body of his story illustrations for a serial. Timmins employs a style that is glamourous and, at times, slightly pulpy. Three of the illustrations received full-color treatment, which reflects both the caliber of the work and the improved economics of the late 1930’s. The two-color and black-and-white illustrations are equally fabulous, and convey the story’s suspense and tension. Illustrations for all ten installments are presented below. Story text has been removed for a cleaner appearance.
