Timmins continued to get a fair number of non-O’Malley assignments for Collier’s during the period 1937-39. As elsewhere in Timmins’ work, we see a shift towards a more glamourous and, at times, pulpy style in the illustrations from this period. In 1938, Timmins got his first of three cover assignments for Collier’s. Five illustrations from this period and the cover are presented below. Story text has been removed for a cleaner presentation. It is likely that the male profile in ‘The Adventurer’ below is that of Timmins.
