In 1925 and 1926, Timmins illustrated eleven ads for Hollywood in Florida, a large land development project on Florida’s east coast. The ads ran in many magazines including The American Magazine (TAM) and The Literary Digest (TLD). They ran as one-page ads in TAM, and two-page ads in TLD. In TAM, the first several ads were given two-color treatment. In TLD, all ads ran in full color. The final ad in the series was not illustrated by Timmins. It bears the TY symbol (Young & Timmins studio) below the artist’s name. Therefore, it stands to reason that the entire series was produced in the Young & Timmins studio. Below are five ads from the series that ran in TAM. For two-color ads, full-color detail from the TLD version of the ad is presented immediately below. I cannot find any blondes in these ads! Most likely Timmins omitted blondes to maximize contrast between hair, sand and surroundings.
