Between 1931 and 1937, Harry illustrated 33 stories for Ladies’ Home Journal (LHJ). LHJ was owned by Curtis Publishing (Saturday Evening Post), and the production values were higher than for The Post (or Collier’s). Among other things, LHJ provided a wonderful platform for women authors to gain publication and name recognition. I find Harry’s LHJ illustrations interesting because they have a softer, more romantic feel to them when compared to other work he did during the period.
