Walt Reed on Timmins

Walt Reed’s The Illustrator In America books are widely considered to be pre-eminent references with regard to noteworthy American illustrators. In his classic The Illustrator In America 1900-1960’s, Reed described the career of Harry Timmins as below.  Based on the material presented on this website, Reed’s assessment of Timmins seems quite accurate.  The image that accompanies his text is from a 1929 Studebaker ad, and can be accessed in full color on the page containing those ads.  If the signature below seems familiar, it’s the one I’ve used in the banner for this website.
